Are we too JW centric?
by Mickey mouse ini realise that may sound like a stupid question on a jw forum but i was thinking about the events in the uk this week and i am wondering if we need to 'widen out our associations'.
it would be preferable if our efforts were directed not against the leadership of a single religion but towards raising awareness of the use of thought reform.
as things stand i am not aware of an effective way for us to communicate with ex cultists from other groups.

This is very difficult for me ...
by compound complex indear friends:.
something has only now come into my possession: all my mother's daily journals.
i am feeling incredibly overcome with emotion as i realize her many dreams went unfulfilled, particularly in the fields of writing and art.

It's official, the internet IS the Watchtower's nemesis!
by cedars ini have been inspired recently by some of the comments on this forum regarding the society having reached a "tipping point".
it's been observed that, despite the overwhelming weight of evidence that the society is nothing more than a damaging cult, the number of witnesses continues to increase, albeit gradually.
the latest figures i have available are those in the 2011 yearbook, showing a global 2.5% increase between 2009 and 2010.. as we all know, the internet is steadily rising in accessibility (or "penetration") around the world, and it provides a wonderful resource for those who are curious about joining the faith, helping such ones to quickly identify precisely how warped the teachings of the watch tower society really are.

Then again you only have to read a Watchtower from 15 years ago and compare it to one of the recent ones to see that they are in in decline and in siege mode.

JW charity status within the UK, has anyone ever petitioned the charity commission (following on a comment re Diseased mind/ Independent article)
by artemis.design ini am not a regular poster, but i like to read discussions.
i'm picking up a comment in the other post regarding the millions jw organisation claims from tax payer in gift aid, and the recent independent article saying that a complaint has been submitted to the charity commission.. in times of austerity, the government is searching every corner in order to find cut backs.
it seems an appropriate time to petition local mps to remove charity status from non-deserving organisations.. i am a very laze ex-jw, and rarely get worked up about anything, but this opportunity seems too good to miss.

See the above threads I have linked to. You can still download the magazine in PDF format on the org's website. If you are in the UK I would be happy to post a hard copy to you.

Could we reach out to ex mormons, ex scientologists, ex Plymouth brethren etc and be more effective? Is there already a forum for this sort of thing? If not do we need one, either here or elsewhere?

Very interesting. The internet is killing them.
Too bad for the WT that the snake in question is a boa constrictor that will squeeze the last bit of life out of them eventually.

More apostate hating from the Watchtower
by Igot2bme ini ran across this post on fb-.
the november 15, 2011 study version of the watchtower, has this to say in an article praising jehu's actions against the family of ahab.
"the prophet elisha sent one of the sons of the prophets to anoint jehu as king and to instruct him to kill every male of the apostate house of ahab.2 ki.

Since the quote cannot be found on the internet, it is quite possible that the term scholar is loosely being used to refer to some JW in the Bethel writing department.
Since the writing department consider themselves the only true bible scholars, I would not be at all surprised if that was the case.

Do we have any Australian "moles" who would be willing to scan & post that letter?
On the second page of this discussion http://www.topix.com/forum/religion/jehovahs-witness/T231GBC7IBK38I573/p2, it appears that someone has a recording of the letter being read out at the meeting. May be worth keeping an eye on this in case the recording gets posted.
